Israel continues to pummel Gaza, expands war into destroying Lebanon + Yemen
Many in the Jewish state have long imagined Greater Israel to include territory far beyond the country's current borders.
It’s one year since the brutal 7 October 2023 Hamas attack on Israel. Since then, there’s been a tsunami of destruction, death and dehumanisation.
Removing Hamas from power in Gaza has never been the sole aim of the Israeli onslaught. Hamas is still standing, albeit battered. Israel’s goal, of rendering Gaza unliveable and forcing hundreds of thousands of Palestinians out of the territory, has been largely successful. There’s no viable path towards a ceasefire in Gaza and barely any international pressure on Israel to stop its murderous actions in Gaza, the West Bank, Yemen and Lebanon.
It’s an incredibly grim picture. Palestinians are bearing the brunt of the Israeli onslaught as a far-right Israeli government takes the opportunity to carry out their long-held (theocratic) goal of expanding the country’s borders into Lebanon, Syria and beyond. Israel’s colonial project in the West Bank is deepening by the day, unleashing unprecedented violence against Palestinians. Nobody is stopping it beyond global leaders expressing “concern”. Israel reads the room and acts accordingly.
The long-term impact of this fascist Israeli policy is dark, endangering Jews and Arabs alike around the world.
It’s never been more important for critical voices, journalism and activism.
But for still too many, this recent (satirical) Onion headline is the easy response:

My book, The Palestine Laboratory, was first released in May 2023. Since then, it’s become a global best-seller, available in multiple nations and languages.
A humbling experience in such grim times.
I’m happy to announce that the paperback edition is now out in the UK and US with a new post 7 October preface (for Australian/New Zealand readers, the latest available version also contains this new preface):
The latest translated edition of my book, The Palestine Laboratory, is now out in Turkey (and here’s my first major interview about it in the country):
There are some fine new books that deserve your attention because they eloquently and powerfully explain the reality of Israel/Palestine (either in the present day or past).
My US/UK publisher, Verso, is releasing these books. I’m honoured to endorse them both.
Gideon Levy is one of Israel’s leading dissidents and journalists. He’s also a dear friend and inspiration:
Adam Raz is an important Israeli historian:
After the recent release of my book, The Palestine Laboratory, in an Indian edition, the title has received many positive reviews in the Indian media including Frontline, Outlook India, Business Standard and The Print.
My other recent work:

I’m on the Advisory Committee of the Jewish Council of Australia and I’m proud of the work, advocacy and media coverage that the group is generating. The need for critical Jewish voices when discussing the Middle East and anti-Semitism is urgent.
